In is located on the [Kolomak](/source/Kolomak_(river)), the left tributary of the [Vorskla](/source/Vorskla), in the [drainage basin](/source/drainage_basin) of the Dnieper. ==History==
Until 18 July 2020, Chutove was the administrative center of [Chutove Raion](/source/Chutove_Raion). The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of [raion](/source/raion)s of Poltava Oblast to four. The area of Chutove Raion was merged into Poltava Raion.<ref>{{Cite news|title=Про утворення та ліквідацію районів. Until 26 January 2024, Chutove  was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/urban-type_settlement). The closest railway station is in [Skorokhodove](/source/Skorokhodove), on the railway connecting Poltava and Kharkiv.
