# Chuck Gaspar

**Chuck Gaspar** (January 25, 1938 – January 15, 2009) was an American [special effects](/source/Special_effect) artist who worked on 70 different films and TV shows, such as *[The Birds](/source/The_Birds_(film))*, *[Ghostbusters](/source/Ghostbusters)*, *[Pale Rider](/source/Pale_Rider)* and *[Armageddon](/source/Armageddon_(1998_film))*.

He was nominated at the [57th Academy Awards](/source/57th_Academy_Awards) in the category of [Best Visual Effects](/source/Academy_Award_for_Best_Visual_Effects) for his work on the film *[Ghostbusters](/source/Ghostbusters)*. He shared his nomination with [John Bruno](/source/John_Bruno_(special_effects)), [Richard Edlund](/source/Richard_Edlund) and [Mark Vargo](/source/Mark_Vargo_(special_effects_artist)).[1]

In addition, he received a Technical achievement Oscar five years after his death.

## Family

His Hungarian father was a special effects artist named Géza Gaspar. His sons, Michael Gaspar and Dan Gaspar, are special effects artist as well.
