**Christopher (Chris) Tavarez** (born November 7, 1992, [Atlanta](/source/Atlanta), [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(U.S._state))) is an American actor, model, and athlete.[1] After modeling as a young child, his parents were encouraged by scouts to pursue the world of acting for their son. [2] His first television appearance was on the [Discovery Kids](/source/Discovery_Kids) reality show, *[Endurance](/source/Endurance_(TV_series))*.[3] He has been cast in several movies, including *[Big Momma's House 2](/source/Big_Momma's_House_2)*, and he has a recurring role on [Tyler Perry](/source/Tyler_Perry)'s television series, *[Meet the Browns](/source/Meet_the_Browns_(TV_series))*.[4] Chris's big break came when he was cast in the [Disney Channel](/source/Disney_Channel) original movie, *[Avalon High](/source/Avalon_High_(film))*.[5][6]

Chris was the [safety](/source/Safety_(gridiron_football_position)) and captain of his football team at [Westlake High School](/source/Westlake_High_School_(Georgia)) in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been scouted and has more than seven [NCAA Division I](/source/NCAA_Division_I) scholarships to colleges such as [Duke](/source/Duke_University), [Tulane](/source/Tulane_University), [Maryland](/source/University_of_Maryland%2C_College_Park), and [Vanderbilt](/source/Vanderbilt_University).[7][8] In August 2010, Tavarez committed to play football for Duke University.[9]

In 2020, Tavarez was sentenced to 300 days in county jail following domestic violence charges.[10]
