He appeared for the prosecution in the 1812 trial of [William Booth](/source/William_Booth_(forger)) for forgery.[2] Booth was sentenced to hang.[2]

In his early career Puller worked as a law reporter with Sir Justice [John Bernard Bosanquet](/source/John_Bernard_Bosanquet). In 1823 he accepted the post of [Chief Justice](/source/Chief_Justice_of_Bengal) at the [Supreme Court of Judicature at Fort William](/source/Supreme_Court_of_Judicature_at_Fort_William), Calcutta and received the customary knighthood. However, like his predecessor Sir [Robert Henry Blosset](/source/Robert_Henry_Blosset), he died there within a few months of starting his judicial duties.[1]

## Family

Puller married Louisa King, daughter of Joseph King of Taplow, and niece of Daniel Giles of [Youngsbury](/source/Youngsbury), Hertfordshire. [Christopher William Puller](/source/Christopher_William_Puller), Member of Parliament for [Hertfordshire](/source/Hertfordshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)), was their son.[3][4]
