# Christopher Kummer

**Christopher Kummer** (born 18 March 1975) is a German economist. He currently serves as a professor of finance at [Hult International Business School](/source/Hult_International_Business_School).[1]

## Life

Kummer was born on 18 March 1975 in [Frankfurt](/source/Frankfurt). After graduating from Benedictine School in [Engelberg](/source/Engelberg), Switzerland in 1995 he completed his graduate studies in [Strategy](/source/Strategy) and [Finance](/source/Finance) in 1999 at the [University of St. Gallen](/source/University_of_St._Gallen) with a dissertation supervised by [Georg von Krogh](/source/Georg_von_Krogh).[2] He received his PhD from [Technische Universität Berlin](/source/Technische_Universit%C3%A4t_Berlin) in 2005 with a dissertation on [mergers and acquisitions](/source/Mergers_and_acquisitions).[3]

From 2004 to 2014 he was a professor at [Webster University Vienna](/source/Webster_University_Vienna) where he founded the [Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances](/source/Institute_for_Mergers,_Acquisitions_and_Alliances) (IMAA) and began a professional partnership with [Michael E. Porter](/source/Michael_E._Porter).[4] As an advisor he led the HR Transaction Services unit from 2007 to 2009 at [PricewaterhouseCoopers](/source/PricewaterhouseCoopers) in [Zürich](/source/Z%C3%BCrich), Switzerland.[5] Since 2012 he is a professor of finance at Hult International Business School.[1]
