Commissioned into the [Royal Artillery](/source/Royal_Artillery) for [National Service](/source/National_Service), Collett then served in the [Territorial Army](/source/Army_Reserve_(United_Kingdom)) being promoted [Captain](/source/Captain_(British_Army_and_Royal_Marines)), and later on the [City of London](/source/City_of_London) [TAVR Committee](/source/Volunteer_Reserves_(United_Kingdom)) (1980-92).
