# Christophe Marchand

**Christophe Marchand** (born 6 August 1972 in [Villeparisis](/source/Villeparisis), [Seine-et-Marne](/source/Seine-et-Marne)) is a retired [freestyle swimmer](/source/Freestyle_swimming) from [France](/source/France). He competed at two consecutive [Summer Olympics](/source/Summer_Olympics) for his native country, starting in [1988](/source/1988_Summer_Olympics). He twice claimed the gold medal at the [Mediterranean Games](/source/Mediterranean_Games) in the men's 400 metres freestyle event.

He is the older brother of [Xavier Marchand](/source/Xavier_Marchand), brother-in-law of [Céline Bonnet](/source/C%C3%A9line_Bonnet), and uncle of [Léon Marchand](/source/L%C3%A9on_Marchand).
