**Christopher Jay Ritter** (born October 20, 1990) is an American [soccer](/source/Association_football) player who last played for [Chicago Fire](/source/Chicago_Fire_Soccer_Club) of [Major League Soccer](/source/Major_League_Soccer).

## Career

### Youth and college

Ritter played five years of [college soccer](/source/College_soccer_in_the_United_States) at [Northwestern University](/source/Northwestern_University) between 2009 and 2013,red-shirting in 2010 after suffering a stress fracture in his leg early in the season.[1] While at college, Ritter also appeared for [USL PDL](/source/USL_PDL) club [Chicago Fire Premier](/source/Chicago_Fire_Premier) between 2010 and 2013.[2]

### Professional

On January 13, 2014, Ritter signed with [Chicago Fire](/source/Chicago_Fire_Soccer_Club) as a [Homegrown Player](/source/Homegrown_Player_Rule_(Major_League_Soccer)).[3] On November 30, 2015, Chicago Fire declined his contract option.[4]
