**Christopher James Green** (born 1 October 1993) is a South African-Australian [cricketer](/source/Cricket).[1] Green bowls right-arm [off-break](/source/Off-break) and bats right-handed, playing as an [All-rounder](/source/All-rounder).[2] He plays for [New South Wales](/source/New_South_Wales_cricket_team) and the [Sydney Thunder](/source/Sydney_Thunder) in the [Big Bash League](/source/Big_Bash_League).[2] He also plays [Sydney Grade Cricket](/source/Sydney_Grade_Cricket) for [Northern District Cricket Club](/source/Northern_District_Cricket_Club). Green made his Thunder debut in the final round of the [BBL04](/source/BBL04). He made his international debut for the [Australian cricket team](/source/Australian_national_cricket_team) in December 2023.[3]

## T20 career

Ahead of the [2018 Caribbean Premier League](/source/2018_Caribbean_Premier_League), he was named as one of five players to watch in the tournament.[4] In June 2019, he was selected to play for the Toronto Nationals franchise team in the [2019 Global T20 Canada](/source/2019_Global_T20_Canada) tournament.[5] In the [2020 IPL auction](/source/List_of_2020_Indian_Premier_League_personnel_changes), he was bought by the [Kolkata Knight Riders](/source/Kolkata_Knight_Riders) ahead of the [2020 Indian Premier League](/source/2020_Indian_Premier_League).[6]

Green received a 90-day suspension for bowling with an illegal action commencing 8 January 2020.[7] In July 2020, Green was named as the captain of the [Guyana Amazon Warriors](/source/Guyana_Amazon_Warriors) side ahead of the [2020 Caribbean Premier League](/source/2020_Caribbean_Premier_League).[8][9] On 11 June 2021, in the [2021 T20 Blast](/source/2021_T20_Blast) in England, Green took a [hat-trick](/source/Hat-trick_(cricket)) and a [five-wicket haul](/source/Five-wicket_haul) for [Middlesex](/source/Middlesex_County_Cricket_Club).[10] In July 2022, he was signed by the [Kandy Falcons](/source/Kandy_Falcons) for the [third edition](/source/2022_Lanka_Premier_League) of the [Lanka Premier League](/source/Lanka_Premier_League).[11] In November 2023, Green was named the captain of [Sydney Thunder](/source/Sydney_Thunder) for the [2023–24 Big Bash League](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Big_Bash_League_season).[12] Green was signed by Lancashire Lightning for the [2024 T20 Blast](/source/2024_T20_Blast) competition[13][14] and later agreed a further two-year contract for the [2025](/source/2025_T20_Blast) and [2026](/source/2026_T20_Blast) editions.[15][16][17] He captained [Antigua & Barbuda Falcons](/source/Antigua_%26_Barbuda_Falcons) in [2024 Caribbean Premier league](/source/2024_Caribbean_Premier_League).

## Personal life

Green is South African on his father's side and British on his mother's side. His parents [Warren](/source/Warren_Green_(tennis)) and [Lisa Green (Gould)](/source/Lisa_Gould), were both professional tennis players.[18] Green holds a British passport.[1]
