# Choc Bay

**Choc Bay** is a [bay](/source/Bay) in [Gros Islet Quarter](/source/Gros_Islet_Quarter) on the [island nation](/source/Island_nation) of [Saint Lucia](/source/Saint_Lucia); it is along the northwestern coast of the island. The [Choc River](/source/Choc_River) flows into the bay.[1][2]

## History

[Francis Willoughby, 5th Baron Willoughby of Parham](/source/Francis_Willoughby,_5th_Baron_Willoughby_of_Parham)'s expedition built a fort overlooking the bay in 1664, but it was abandoned in 1666. The French then built a fort here in 1667.[3]
