Constituency of Bangladesh's Jatiya Sangsad

Chittagong-11 Constituency for the Jatiya Sangsad District Chittagong District Division Chittagong Division Electorate 489,339 (2026) Current constituency Created 1973 Parliamentary Party Bangladesh Nationalist Party Member of Parliament Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury ← 287 Chittagong-10 289 Chittagong-12 →

**Chittagong-11** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). Since 6 August 2024, the constituency remains vacant.

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses the [Port of Chittagong](/source/Port_of_Chittagong) and parts of the [Chattogram City Corporation](/source/Chattogram_City_Corporation), specifically Wards [27](/source/South_Agrabad_Ward), [28](/source/Pathantooly_Ward), [29](/source/West_Madarbari_Ward), [30](/source/East_Madarbari_Ward), [36](/source/Gosaildanga_Ward), [37](/source/North_Middle_Halishahar_Ward), [38](/source/South_Middle_Halishahar_Ward), [39](/source/South_Halishahar_Ward), [40](/source/North_Patenga_Ward), and [41](/source/South_Patenga_Ward), integrating these areas under a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[2] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[3]

Ahead of the [2014 general election](/source/2014_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission renumbered the seat for [Sandwip Upazila](/source/Sandwip_Upazila) from Chittagong-16 to Chittagong-3, bumping up by one the suffix of the former constituency of that name and the higher numbered constituencies in the district. Thus Chittagong-11 covers the area previously covered by Chittagong-10. Previously Chittagong-11 encompassed all but five [union parishads](/source/Union_parishad) of [Patiya Upazila](/source/Patiya_Upazila): Bara Uthan, Char Lakshya, Char Patharghata, Juldha, and Sikalbaha .[4][1]
