In 1979, "Chip Chalmers" became the [production coordinator](/source/production_coordinator) of [20th Century Fox Television](/source/20th_Century_Fox_Television) in Los Angeles. In 1981, Chalmers entered the [Directors Guild of America](/source/Directors_Guild_of_America) and worked as an [assistant director](/source/assistant_director) till 1993. Chalmers was first assistant director for episodes of [Melrose Place](/source/Melrose_Place), [The A-Team](/source/The_A-Team), [Star Trek: The Next Generation](/source/Star_Trek%3A_The_Next_Generation) and [Miami Vice](/source/Miami_Vice).<ref>"Chip Chalmers - IMDb."
