The **Chilean Copper Commission** (Spanish: *Comisión Chilena del Cobre*) or **COCHILCO** is a technical agency aimed to provide advice to the Chilean government on issues related to copper,[1] a metal of which Chile is [the worlds largest producer](/source/Copper_mining_in_Chile),[2] and mining in general.[3] It is one of Chile's mining-sector state entities, together with [National Mining Enterprise](/source/ENAMI_(Chile)) (ENAMI) and the [National Geology and Mining Service](/source/National_Geology_and_Mining_Service) (SERNAGEOMIN).[4] It was established in 1976.[3]

Each year, COCHILCO publishes a report titled *Inversión en la Minería Chilena* (Investment in Chilean Mining), a portfolio of mining projects with a rolling ten-year forecast.[5][6] COCHILCO is together with the [National Customs Service](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=National_Customs_Service&action=edit&redlink=1) and the [Internal Taxes Service](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Internal_Taxes_Service&action=edit&redlink=1) (SII) one of the state entities that participate in the mining [traceability](/source/Traceability) programme of the [Ministry of Finance](/source/Ministry_of_Finance_(Chile)).[7]

The agency is decentralized and governed by a council of seven persons of that includes the [Minister of Mining](/source/Ministry_of_Mining_(Chile)), the [Minister of National Defense](/source/Ministry_of_National_Defense_(Chile)), the chief of the general staff of [the Armed Forces](/source/Chilean_Armed_Forces), two persons assigned by the [Central Bank of Chile](/source/Central_Bank_of_Chile) and two representants named by the [President of Chile](/source/President_of_Chile), of which one has to be a [mining engineer](/source/Mining_engineer).[8]
