# Children in Need 2004

***Children in Need 2004*** was a campaign held in the United Kingdom to raise money for the charity *[Children in Need](/source/Children_in_Need)*. It culminated in a live broadcast on [BBC One](/source/BBC_One) on the evening of Friday 19 November and was hosted primarily by [Terry Wogan](/source/Terry_Wogan), who was assisted by [Gaby Roslin](/source/Gaby_Roslin). The voice over was [Alan Dedicoat](/source/Alan_Dedicoat).

The official single for 2004's appeal was recorded by [Girls Aloud](/source/Girls_Aloud). The band recorded a cover of [The Pretenders](/source/The_Pretenders)' 1994 song *[I'll Stand By You](/source/I'll_Stand_By_You#Girls_Aloud_version)* for the charity. The single reached number one on the [UK Singles Chart](/source/UK_Singles_Chart) for two weeks.
