# Chienti

The **Chienti** is a river in the [Marche](/source/Marche) region of [Italy](/source/Italy).[1] Its source is near [Serravalle di Chienti](/source/Serravalle_di_Chienti) in the [Appennino Umbro-Marchigiano](/source/Apennine_Mountains#Umbrian-Marchean_Apennines) mountains in the [province of Macerata](/source/Province_of_Macerata). The river flows northeast through the mountains past [Muccia](/source/Muccia) and enters and exits a small reservoir before entering Lago di Pievefavera. After exiting Lago di Pievefavera, the river continues flowing northeast before being joined by the [Fiastrone](/source/Fiastrone) at [Belforte del Chienti](/source/Belforte_del_Chienti). The river continues flowing northeast past [Tolentino](/source/Tolentino) before being joined by the [Fiastra](/source/Fiastra_(river)) south of [Macerata](/source/Macerata). The river flows east near [Corridonia](/source/Corridonia) and forms the border between the province of Macerata and the [province of Fermo](/source/Province_of_Fermo) before flowing into the [Adriatic Sea](/source/Adriatic_Sea) near [Civitanova Marche](/source/Civitanova_Marche).
