==Founding of Saskatoon==
[John Lake](/source/John_Neilson_Lake) of the Temperance Colonization Society of Toronto arrived in what is now [Saskatoon](/source/Saskatoon) in 1882 to survey the land. Whitecap advised that Lake begin the settlement on the east bank of the [South Saskatchewan River](/source/South_Saskatchewan_River), which would later become [Nutana](/source/Nutana%2C_Saskatoon).<ref>{{cite web |url= https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/saskatoon|title= Saskatoon|last= Sarjeant|first= A. ==Later life==
Whitecap was a participant in the [North-West Rebellion](/source/North-West_Rebellion), and was tried for treason after [Louis Riel's](/source/Louis_Riel) surrender.
