**Cheung Man-kwong** ([Chinese](/source/Chinese_language): 張文光, born 15 September 1954) is a [Hong Kong](/source/Hong_Kong) politician, who is a member of the Yuen Long District Council.

## Background

Born in Hong Kong with family roots in [Taishan](/source/Taishan%2C_Guangdong), Cheung was a member of the [Hong Kong Legislative Council](/source/Hong_Kong_Legislative_Council) representing the Education [functional constituency](/source/Functional_constituency_(Hong_Kong)). He is a member of [Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Party_(Hong_Kong)) and former chairman of [Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union](/source/Hong_Kong_Professional_Teachers'_Union). He obtained his bachelor's degree from the Economics department of [the Chinese University of Hong Kong](/source/The_Chinese_University_of_Hong_Kong) and is a registered teacher.[1]

## Views, policy positions and Legco voting

In June 2010, he voted with the party in favour of the government's [2012 constitutional reform package](/source/Consultation_Document_on_the_Methods_for_Selecting_the_Chief_Executive_and_for_Forming_the_LegCo_in_2012), which included the late amendment by the Democratic Party – accepted by the Beijing government – to hold a popular vote for five new [District Council](/source/District_Councils_of_Hong_Kong) [functional constituencies](/source/Functional_constituency_(Hong_Kong)).[2]
