Ashurst was born in [Normanton](/source/Normanton%2C_West_Yorkshire) in [West Yorkshire](/source/West_Yorkshire), in the north of England, but moved to [Granada](/source/Granada) in [Andalusia](/source/Andalusia), in the south of Spain, as a child.
