**Chelgerd** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): چلگرد)[a] is a city in the [Central District](/source/Central_District_(Kuhrang_County)) of [Kuhrang County](/source/Kuhrang_County), [Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran](/source/Chaharmahal_and_Bakhtiari_province), serving as capital of both the county and district.[6] It is also the administrative center for [Shurab-e Tangazi Rural District](/source/Shurab-e_Tangazi_Rural_District).[7] The village of Chelgerd was converted to a city in 1999.[3]

### Ethnicity

The city is populated by [Lurs](/source/Lurs).[8]

### Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 2,708 in 539 households.[9] The following census in 2011 counted 3,061 people in 596 households.[10] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 2,989 people in 753 households.[4]
