**Cheimerium** or **Cheimerion** (Ancient Greek: Χειμέριον) was a fortified settlement and harbour of [ancient Thesprotia](/source/Ancient_Thesprotia) in [ancient Epirus](/source/Ancient_Epirus),[1] on an eponymous promontory. It lay between the rivers [Acheron](/source/Acheron) and [Thyamis](/source/Thyamis), and opposite the southern point of [Corcyra](/source/Corcyra). In the two naval engagements between the Corcyraeans and [Corinthians](/source/Ancient_Corinth) just before the [Peloponnesian War](/source/Peloponnesian_War), Cheimerium was the station of the Corinthian fleet.[2][3][4][5]

It is located in modern near Akra Trophale, Stikgia, 5 km from [Cichyrus](/source/Cichyrus) (Ephyra).[6][7] Its acropolis was fortified since the archaic period.
