**Chatuchak** ([Thai](/source/Thai_language): จตุจักร, pronounced [\[t͡ɕàʔ.tùʔ.t͡ɕàk\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Thai)) is a *[khwaeng](/source/Khwaeng)* (subdistrict) of [Chatuchak District](/source/Chatuchak_District), Bangkok, Thailand. It is a location of the district office.

## History

The name *Chatuchak* after [Chatuchak Park](/source/Chatuchak_Park), a [public park](/source/Public_park) was built on the occasion of King [Bhumibol Adulyadej](/source/Bhumibol_Adulyadej) (Rama IX)'s fourth cycle (48 years old) anniversary (Chatuchak means "fourth cycle"). In late 2003 it was officially declared a subdistrict along with four other subdistricts in Chatuchak.[2]

## Geography

Chatuchak is an area in the southwest of the district. It is bounded by (from the north clockwise): [Lat Yao](/source/Lat_Yao_subdistrict%2C_Bangkok) in its district ([Ratchadaphisek Road](/source/Ratchadaphisek_Road) is a borderline), [Chomphon](/source/Chom_Phon_subdistrict) in its district ([Phaholyothin Road](/source/Phaholyothin_Road) is a borderline), Phaya Thai in [Phaya Thai District](/source/Phaya_Thai_District) (Khlong Bang Sue is a borderline), [Bang Sue](/source/Bang_Sue_subdistrict) in [Bang Sue District](/source/Bang_Sue_District) (Khlong Prapa and [Southern Railway Line](/source/Southern_Line_(Thailand)) are the borderlines).[2][3]
