**Chater Valley** is a 3.8-hectare (9.4-acre) biological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) north of [Loddington](/source/Loddington%2C_Leicestershire) in [Leicestershire](/source/Leicestershire).[1][2]

This steeply sloping stretch of the valley of the [River Chater](/source/River_Chater) is a semi-natural mosaic of grassland and spring-fed marsh. There are diverse breeding birds, invertebrates and herbs, including [tormentil](/source/Tormentil), [betony](/source/Stachys_officinalis) and one of the few populations in the county of [moonwort](/source/Botrychium_lunaria).[3]

The site is private land with no public access.
