A '''chassis cab''', also called a '''cab chassis''' or '''half truck''', is a type of vehicle construction, often found in [medium duty truck](/source/medium_duty_truck) [commercial vehicle](/source/commercial_vehicle)s.

Instead of supplying the customer with a factory pre-assembled [flatbed](/source/flatbed_truck), cargo container, or other equipment, the customer is given the vehicle with just [chassis](/source/chassis) rails and a [cab](/source/cabin_(truck)). This allows the customer to add any desired [aftermarket](/source/aftermarket_(automotive)) equipment, such as [fire apparatus](/source/fire_apparatus), [ambulance](/source/ambulance), or a [recreational vehicle](/source/recreational_vehicle) conversion package, which can be customized for the specific needs of the customer.
