***Chasing Down a Spark*** is the third solo release by [recording artist](/source/Recording_artist) [Bill Deasy](/source/Bill_Deasy) although it is the second after formally leaving [The Gathering Field](/source/The_Gathering_Field). ***Chasing Down a Spark*** follows his 2003 release [Good Day No Rain](/source/Good_Day_No_Rain) and his first solo effort, [Spring Lies Waiting](/source/Spring_Lies_Waiting), was recorded as a side project while still with [The Gathering Field](/source/The_Gathering_Field).

Chasing Down a Spark was produced by [Kevin Salem](/source/Kevin_Salem) and mixed by [Joe Blaney](/source/Joe_Blaney). The CD features guest appearances by [Rachael Yamagata](/source/Rachael_Yamagata), [Maia Sharp](/source/Maia_Sharp), [Donnie Iris](/source/Donnie_Iris) and [The Clarks](/source/The_Clarks)' [Scott Blasey](/source/Scott_Blasey) and [Rob James](/source/Rob_James_(guitarist)).
