[MTV Australia](/source/MTV_(Australia_and_New_Zealand)) described the track as "old school [Alicia Keys](/source/Alicia_Keys) or [Whitney Houston](/source/Whitney_Houston)".[5] In early 2020, [YouTuber](/source/YouTuber) Kevin Freshwater posted an impromptu clip of Awbery covering "[Shallow](/source/Shallow_(Lady_Gaga_and_Bradley_Cooper_song))" for his segment "Finish the Lyrics".[6] On [Instagram](/source/Instagram), Awbery gained 217,000 followers within a week of the video circulating.
