**Charles Ian Fraser of Reelig** [CBE](/source/Order_of_the_British_Empire) [TD](/source/Territorial_Decoration) [DL](/source/Deputy_Lieutenant) (1903–1963) was a [Scottish](/source/Scottish_people) [British Army](/source/British_Army) officer, historian and [officer of arms](/source/Officer_of_arms).

Fraser was a commissioned officer in the [Lovat Scouts](/source/Lovat_Scouts). He served in the [Second World War](/source/Second_World_War) and in 1942 he was awarded the [Efficiency Decoration](/source/Efficiency_Decoration).[1] In 1944 he was appointed a [Deputy Lieutenant](/source/Deputy_Lieutenant) for [Inverness-shire](/source/Inverness-shire).[2] He was confirmed in the honorary rank of Major in 1951.[3] He was later granted the honorary rank of [Colonel](/source/Colonel_(United_Kingdom)). He was made a [Commander of the Order of the British Empire](/source/Commander_of_the_Order_of_the_British_Empire) in the [1962 New Year Honours](/source/1962_New_Year_Honours) for his work as Chairman of the [Territorial and Auxiliary Forces Association](/source/Territorial_and_Auxiliary_Forces_Association) of the County of Inverness.

In 1939, Fraser was made [Dingwall Pursuivant](/source/Dingwall_Pursuivant) herald in the [Court of the Lord Lyon](/source/Court_of_the_Lord_Lyon).[4] In 1953 he was promoted to [Albany Herald](/source/Albany_Herald).[5] An expert on Scottish clan history, heraldry and genealogy, he contributed two books to Johnston & Bacon's Clan Histories series: *The Clan Cameron, A Patriarchy Beset* (1953) and *The Clan Munro* (1954).

In 1929 he married Mary Charity Campbell-Preston and together they had four children. He was [Laird](/source/Laird) of Reelig.
