# Charles Abomeli

**Charles Abomeli** is a British actor. He is known for playing [Colonel Oduya](/source/List_of_UNIT_personnel#Colonel_Oduya) in the third series of British science fiction drama *[Torchwood: Children of Earth](/source/Torchwood:_Children_of_Earth)*.

## Career

A [Shakespearean actor](/source/Shakespeare_in_performance), Abomeli has played [Coriolanus](/source/Coriolanus), [Othello](/source/Othello), [Hotspur](/source/Henry_Percy_(Hotspur)) in [Henry IV](/source/Henry_IV_of_England), and [Angelo](/source/Angelo_(Measure_for_Measure)), for the [National Theatre](/source/Royal_National_Theatre) in their touring production of [Measure for Measure](/source/Measure_for_Measure) in 2002.[1]

For the [Royal Shakespeare Company](/source/Royal_Shakespeare_Company), he has appeared in [Greg Doran](/source/Gregory_Doran)'s production of Othello in 2004[2] and the premiere stage adaptation of [Malorie Blackman](/source/Malorie_Blackman)'s [Noughts & Crosses series](/source/Noughts_%26_Crosses_series) in 2008.[3]

At the [West Yorkshire Playhouse](/source/West_Yorkshire_Playhouse) he played [Orsino](/source/Orsino_(Twelfth_Night)) opposite [Hattie Morahan](/source/Hattie_Morahan)'s critically acclaimed portrayal of Viola in [Twelfth Night](/source/Twelfth_Night)[4][5][6][7] and prior to that, appeared in *Who’s Boss?* by Ansell Broderick.

Abomeli also played opposite [Susannah York](/source/Susannah_York) in one of her last theatre appearances, playing in Sara Mason's *The Kindness of Strangers* at [The Croydon Warehouse](/source/Warehouse_Theatre).[6][8]

Abomeli's screen roles have also included appearances in *[The Bill](/source/The_Bill)*, *[The Jack in the Box](/source/The_Jack_in_the_Box)*, *[Wire in the Blood](/source/Wire_in_the_Blood)*[7] and *[ShakespeaRe-Told](/source/ShakespeaRe-Told): [Macbeth](/source/Macbeth)*, with film roles in *Anxiety* and the award-winning short film *Hypnotized* by Marcia Green. In 2017, he played [Joe Jackson](/source/Joe_Jackson_(manager)) in *Man in the Mirror*, a docudrama about [Michael Jackson](/source/Michael_Jackson).
