Roy made entry into politics in 1985 as member of [Bihar Legislative Assembly](/source/Bihar_Legislative_Assembly) from [Parsa (Vidhan Sabha constituency)](/source/Parsa_(Vidhan_Sabha_constituency)). Again in [1990](/source/1990_Bihar_Legislative_Assembly_election), [1995](/source/1995_Bihar_Legislative_Assembly_election) and [2000](/source/2000_Bihar_Legislative_Assembly_election), he won from the same constituency. Chandrika Roy is the second son of the five sons of [Daroga Prasad Rai](/source/Daroga_Prasad_Rai). He is married to Purnima Priyadarshini and has 3 children, namely Apurva Roy, Aishwarya Roy and Aayushi Roy.
