**Chandla Assembly constituency** is one of the 230 [Vidhan Sabha](/source/Madhya_Pradesh_Vidhan_Sabha) (Legislative Assembly) constituencies of [Madhya Pradesh](/source/Madhya_Pradesh) state in central [India](/source/India).[1] This constituency came into existence in 1951 as one of the 48 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the erstwhile [Vindhya Pradesh](/source/Vindhya_Pradesh) state,[2] but it was abolished in 1956. It came into existence again in 1976. This constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the [Scheduled castes](/source/Dalit) since 2008, following delimitation of the legislative assembly constituencies.

## Overview

Chandla (constituency number 49) is one of the 6 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in [Chhatarpur district](/source/Chhatarpur_district). This constituency covers the entire Gaurihar [tehsil](/source/Tehsil), Chandla [nagar panchayat](/source/Nagar_panchayat) and part of Laundi tehsil of the district.[3]

Chandla is part of [Khajuraho Lok Sabha constituency](/source/Khajuraho_(Lok_Sabha_constituency)) along with seven other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, [Rajnagar](/source/Rajnagar%2C_Madhya_Pradesh_Assembly_constituency) in this district, [Pawai](/source/Pawai_Assembly_constituency), [Gunnaor](/source/Gunnaor_Assembly_constituency) and [Panna](/source/Panna_Assembly_constituency) in [Panna district](/source/Panna_district) and [Vijayraghavgarh](/source/Vijayraghavgarh_Assembly_constituency), [Murwara](/source/Murwara_Assembly_constituency) and [Bahoriband](/source/Bahoriband_Assembly_constituency) in [Katni district](/source/Katni_district).[3]
