The Chamb originates in the territory of [Chodská Lhota](/source/Chodsk%C3%A1_Lhota) in the [Cham-Furth Depression](/source/Cham-Furth_Depression) at an elevation of {{cvt|526|m}} and flows to [Cham](/source/Cham%2C_Germany), where it merges with the Regen River at an elevation of {{cvt|367|m}}. It is {{convert|50.3|km|abbr=on}} long, of which {{convert|38.5|km|abbr=on}} is in Germany, {{convert|9.0|km|abbr=on}} is in the Czech Republic and {{convert|2.8|km|1|abbr=on}} forms the Czech-German border. The river flows through the municipal territories of [Chodská Lhota](/source/Chodsk%C3%A1_Lhota), [Kdyně](/source/Kdyn%C4%9B) (briefly) and [Domažlice](/source/V%C5%A1eruby_(Doma%C5%BElice_District)) in the Czech Republic, and through [Eschlkam](/source/Eschlkam), [Furth im Wald](/source/Furth_im_Wald), [Arnschwang](/source/Arnschwang), [Weiding](/source/Weiding) and [Cham](/source/Cham%2C_Germany) in Germany.
==Bodies of water==
A significant body of water built on the Chamb is the Drachensee Reservoir, located in the territory of Furth im Wald. A population of [Eurasian beaver](/source/Eurasian_beaver)s (protected within the Czech Republic) lives in the upper course of the river. The rising water in the Chamb due to [beaver dam](/source/beaver_dam)s has spilled over the banks and caused damage to people's homes.
