The '''Central Syrian Committee''' ({{Langx|fr|Comité Central Syrien}}) was an organization active during after World War I, seeking the independence and the unity of Syria. It lobbied for an autonomous and indivisible Syria extending from the [Taurus mountains](/source/Taurus_Mountains) to the [Isthmus of Suez](/source/Isthmus_of_Suez), and from the Mediterranean to the banks of the Euphrates and beyond. == At the Versailles Peace Conference== 

The Syrian Delegation met with the Supreme Council of the [Versailles Peace Conference](/source/Treaty_of_Versailles) on February 13, 1919. The council consisted of [Arthur James Balfour](/source/Arthur_James_Balfour) and [Viscount Milner](/source/Alfred_Milner%2C_1st_Viscount_Milner) representing the British Empire, President [Woodrow Wilson](/source/Woodrow_Wilson) and [Robert Lansing](/source/Robert_Lansing) of the United States, French prime minister [Georges Clemenceau](/source/Georges_Clemenceau) and French Foreign Affairs Minister [Stephen Pichon](/source/Stephen_Pichon), [Vittorio Emanuele Orlando](/source/Vittorio_Emanuele_Orlando) and [Sydney Sonnino](/source/Sydney_Sonnino) for Italy, and [Matsui Keishirō](/source/Matsui_Keishir%C5%8D) for Japan.{{efn|Additionally present were Mr. A.
