**Celso Teixeira Brant** (December 16, 1920 - April 24, 2004) was a Brazilian jurist, university professor of the [Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)](/source/Federal_University_of_Minas_Gerais), writer and politician. He was the [National Mobilization Party (PMN)](/source/Party_of_National_Mobilization) candidate for [President of Brazil](/source/President_of_Brazil) in the [1989 General Election](/source/1998_Brazilian_general_election).[1]

## Biography

For being [Clóvis Salgado](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cl%C3%B3vis_Salgado&action=edit&redlink=1)'s cabinet chief, he became the acting [Minister of Education](/source/Ministry_of_Education_(Brazil)) between April and October 1956.[2]

In the [1958 Legislative Elections](/source/1958_Brazilian_legislative_election) he was elected Federal Deputy from [Minas Gerais](/source/Minas_Gerais) by the [Republican Party (PR)](/source/Republican_Party_(Brazil)), adhering to the [National Parliamentary Group.](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=National_Parliamentary_Group.&action=edit&redlink=1)[3]

Brant was nominated and ran for [President of Brazil](/source/President_of_Brazil) in the [1989 General Election](/source/1998_Brazilian_general_election) by [National Mobilization Party (PMN)](/source/Party_of_National_Mobilization), receiving 109,909 votes or 0,16% of the valid votes. In the [1992 Municipal Elections](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1992_Brazilian_Municipal_Elections&action=edit&redlink=1) he was elected Alderman of [Belo Horizonte](/source/Belo_Horizonte) also by the [PMN](/source/Party_of_National_Mobilization).[4]
