# Cecil Cole

**Cecil Edward Cole** (September 23, 1919 – June 20, 2002) was an American [Negro league](/source/Negro_league) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) in the 1940s.

A native of [Connellsville, Pennsylvania](/source/Connellsville,_Pennsylvania), Cole graduated from [Connellsville High School](/source/Connellsville_High_School) in 1937, and served in the [US Army](/source/US_Army) during [World War II](/source/World_War_II).[1] He played for the [Newark Eagles](/source/Newark_Eagles) during their [1946 Negro World Series](/source/1946_Negro_World_Series) championship season.[2][3][4] Cole went on to become a scout for the [Pittsburgh Pirates](/source/Pittsburgh_Pirates) for 35 years. He died in Connellsville in 2002 at age 82.[5][6]
