# Cave Island

**Cave Island** is an island marked by a large cavern in its south side, which is the second largest of the [Meade Islands](/source/Meade_Islands) lying in the north entrance to [McFarlane Strait](/source/McFarlane_Strait), off [Archar Peninsula](/source/Archar_Peninsula) on [Greenwich Island](/source/Greenwich_Island) in the [South Shetland Islands](/source/South_Shetland_Islands). It is separated from neighbouring [Zverino Island](/source/Zverino_Island) to the west-southwest by the 110 m wide [Glogovo Passage](/source/Glogovo_Passage).

The name *Cave Rock* appears to have been applied by [DI](/source/Discovery_Investigations) personnel on the *[Discovery II](/source/RRS_Discovery_II)* who charted the feature in 1935.
