# Catargiu

The **Catargiu family** (katarˈd͡ʒi.u) is an old and influential [Moldavian noble family](/source/Boyars_of_Moldavia_and_Wallachia) of the [Tupilați](/source/Tupila%C8%9Bi) region, whose members played important political role in the history of [Wallachia](/source/Wallachia), [Moldavia](/source/Principality_of_Moldavia) and [Romania](/source/Kingdom_of_Romania).[1]
