The **Catalana**, [Catalan](/source/Catalan_language): **Pota Blava**, [Spanish](/source/Spanish_language): **Gallina del Prat** or **Catalana del Prat**, is a Spanish [breed](/source/List_of_chicken_breeds) of domestic [chicken](/source/Chicken). It originates in the area of [El Prat de Llobregat](/source/El_Prat_de_Llobregat) in the *[comarca](/source/Comarca)* of [Baix Llobregat](/source/Baix_Llobregat), in [Catalonia](/source/Catalonia) in eastern Spain.[8][5] It may also be called the **Catalana del Prat Leonada** or **Buff Catalana** for its golden plumage. The Catalana is a hardy dual-purpose breed kept for both [eggs](/source/Egg_(food)) and [meat](/source/Chicken_(food)).

The Catalana was included in the *[Standard of Perfection](/source/Standard_of_Perfection)* of the [American Poultry Association](/source/American_Poultry_Association) in 1949.[3][6]
