# Castel Bay

**Castel Bay** is a [Canadian Arctic](/source/Northern_Canada) [waterway](/source/Waterway) in the [Northwest Territories](/source/Northwest_Territories). It is a southern arm of [M'Clure Strait](/source/M'Clure_Strait) on northeast [Banks Island](/source/Banks_Island). The mouth of the larger [Mercy Bay](/source/Mercy_Bay) is less than 20 km (12 mi) to the east.These bays are a part of [Aulavik National Park](/source/Aulavik_National_Park).

It is named by [Vilhjalmur Stefansson](/source/Vilhjalmur_Stefansson) in honour of [Arctic](/source/Arctic) explorer [Aarnout Castel](/source/Aarnout_Castel).[1][2]
