Cassandra Ann Fox was born in London in 1982[Cass Fox (2013) @ [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/cass-fox-mn0000478351/biography AllMusic] (accessed 1 January 2013)] as the only daughter in a large working-class Irish family. She never had any formal training or [stage school](/source/stage_school) to guide her, but knew from an early age she wanted to make music.
Fox was spotted by a friend of Portuguese producer [Rui Da Silva](/source/Rui_da_Silva_(DJ)) as she returned from a night out, singing with a reggae band, busking for an "impromptu" jam on the streets of the West End. Numbers were exchanged and she went down to the Roundhouse studios, where she became a permanent fixture at the studio, working and hanging out with the other producers who also worked there. It was while at Roundhouse studies that Fox wrote the lyrics for the now legendary "[Touch Me](/source/Touch_Me_(Rui_da_Silva_song))", as well as laying down the vocals and helping co-produce the track with Rui. "Touch Me" topped the [Portuguese Singles Chart](/source/Portuguese_Singles_Chart). Outside Portugal, "Touch Me" also topped the charts in Ireland and Fox's native United Kingdom. In the latter country, "Touch Me" became the first single to top the [UK Singles Chart](/source/UK_Singles_Chart) in the 21st century and [third millennium](/source/3rd_millennium) and went on to sell over 600,000 copies.{{citation needed|date=July 2020}} In addition, at 18 years and 14 days, Fox became the then third-youngest female artist to top the UK Singles Chart with their debut single after [Billie Piper](/source/Billie_Piper) and [Britney Spears](/source/Britney_Spears), who were 15 years 9 months and 5 days and 17 years 2 months and 19 days respectively when they topped the chart with "[Because We Want To](/source/Because_We_Want_To)" and "[...Baby One More Time](/source/...Baby_One_More_Time)" in June 1998 and February 1999.
Cass was the first of two support acts on [Faithless](/source/Faithless)' ''[Forever Faithless](/source/Forever_Faithless)'' tour in 2005.
Cass later appeared on the 2006 Faithless album ''[To All New Arrivals](/source/To_All_New_Arrivals)'', providing vocals for the track "[Music Matters](/source/Music_Matters)". The single peaked at number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. She has appeared alongside the band on the tour supporting this album in 2007 with support act [Calvin Harris](/source/Calvin_Harris).
She has been signed to [Ministry of Sound](/source/Ministry_of_Sound) and Island/Universal Records for her album ''Come Here''. Has worked with Rollo, [Faithless](/source/Faithless), Rick Knowles, Ben Langmaid ([La Roux](/source/La_Roux)) and has performed at Coachella, Wembley, [Filmore](/source/Fillmore_West) (San Francisco), [Webster Hall](/source/Webster_Hall) (New York City).
