**Cartoona Ridge** is a [mountain](/source/Mountain) [ridge](/source/Ridge) extending east from the eastern side of the [Mount Edziza volcanic complex](/source/Mount_Edziza_volcanic_complex) in northwestern [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), Canada. It is bounded on the north by [Shaman Creek](/source/Shaman_Creek) valley, on the south by [Chakima Creek](/source/Chakima_Creek) valley, on the east by [Kakiddi Creek](/source/Kakiddi_Creek) valley and on the west by the [Big Raven Plateau](/source/Big_Raven_Plateau).[3] Its highest point and only named peak is [Cartoona Peak](/source/Cartoona_Peak) at the westernmost end of the ridge with an elevation of 2,300 metres (7,500 feet).[1][3] Carttona Ridge is one of three ridges east of the Big Raven Plateau named by Canadian [volcanologist](/source/Volcanologist) [Jack Souther](/source/Jack_Souther), the other two being [Idiji Ridge](/source/Idiji_Ridge) and [Sorcery Ridge](/source/Sorcery_Ridge) to the north.[3]

The lower slopes of Cartoona Ridge are covered with [felsenmeer](/source/Felsenmeer), [till](/source/Till) and [glacial](/source/Glacial) and [fluvial](/source/Fluvial) [outwash](/source/Outwash), as well as [solifluction](/source/Solifluction) deposits. The lowermost rock outcrops are [Miocene](/source/Miocene) [alkali basalt](/source/Alkali_basalt) flows of the [Raspberry Formation](/source/Raspberry_Formation). Overlying these rocks are Miocene [comendites](/source/Comendite) and [trachytes](/source/Trachyte) of the [Armadillo Formation](/source/Armadillo_Formation) which are in the form of [pumice](/source/Pumice), [ash flows](/source/Ash_flow), [tuffs](/source/Tuff), [lava](/source/Lava) flows and [lava domes](/source/Lava_dome). The Armadillo Formation at the westernmost end of Cartoona Ridge is overlain by [Pliocene](/source/Pliocene) alkali basalt of the [Nido Formation](/source/Nido_Formation).[3]
