**Carthorpe** is a small village and [civil parish](/source/Civil_parish) in [North Yorkshire](/source/North_Yorkshire), England. It is located about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of [Bedale](/source/Bedale).

From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the [Hambleton District](/source/Hambleton_District), it is now administered by the unitary [North Yorkshire Council](/source/North_Yorkshire_Council).

Carthorpe post office

Village services include a pub (the *Fox and Hounds Inn*), a post office and a Community Hall.

[Camp Hill House](/source/Camp_Hill_House), a country house with a substantial estate, lies in the village.[2]
