# Carson Klein

**Carson Christopher Klein** (born February 1, 2002) is an American [soccer](/source/Association_football) player who currently plays for [MLS Next Pro](/source/MLS_Next_Pro) club [Sporting Kansas City II](/source/Sporting_Kansas_City_II).

## Career

### Youth

Klein joined the [LA Galaxy](/source/LA_Galaxy) academy in 2016, where he played until 2020.[1] In 2020, Klein also played with LA Galaxy's [USL Championship](/source/USL_Championship) affiliate [LA Galaxy II](/source/LA_Galaxy_II). He first appeared for the team on August 19, 2020, as a 78th-minute substitute during a 4–1 loss to [Phoenix Rising](/source/Phoenix_Rising_FC).[2]

### College

In July 2020, Klein committed to playing [college soccer](/source/College_soccer_in_the_United_States) at [California Polytechnic State University](/source/California_Polytechnic_State_University) in the fall of 2020.[3][4]

## Personal life

Carson is the son of [Chris Klein](/source/Chris_Klein_(soccer)), who played professional soccer for [Kansas City Wizards](/source/Kansas_City_Wizards), [Real Salt Lake](/source/Real_Salt_Lake) and [LA Galaxy](/source/LA_Galaxy), as well as earning 22 caps for the [United States](/source/United_States_men's_national_soccer_team) national team. Chris is the former President of [LA Galaxy](/source/LA_Galaxy), a position he held from 2013 to 2023 when he was let go.[4]
