**Carolijn Mariëlle Brouwer** (born 25 July 1973, in [Leiden](/source/Leiden)) is a [sailor](/source/Sailing_(sport)) from the [Netherlands](/source/Netherlands),[1][2][3] who represented her country for the first time at the [2000 Summer Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics) in [Sydney](/source/Sydney).[4] Brouwer as helmsman of the Dutch boat with [Alexandra Verbeek](/source/Alexandra_Verbeek) as crew took the 13th place in the [Women's 470](/source/Sailing_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women's_470).[5][6][7] In the [2004 Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics), Brouwer returned to the Olympics in [Europe](/source/Sailing_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Europe) and took 19th place.[8][9][10] Brouwer than switched to the [Tornado](/source/Sailing_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Tornado) and qualified for the [2008 Olympics](/source/Sailing_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics). However this time she sailed for [Belgium](/source/Belgium). As helmsman, with crew [Sébastien Godefroid](/source/S%C3%A9bastien_Godefroid) she took 12th place.

She received the [ISAF](/source/International_Sailing_Federation) [World Sailor of the Year Award](/source/ISAF_World_Sailor_of_the_Year_Awards) in 1998[11] and 2018.[12]
