Born in Florence, Cecchi studied under the Living Theatre and with the Workshop of [Eduardo De Filippo](/source/Eduardo_De_Filippo). He appeared in films such as ''[La sua giornata di gloria](/source/His_Day_of_Glory)'' (1969), ''[Le Mans](/source/Le_Mans_(film))'' (1971) and ''[Death of a Neapolitan Mathematician](/source/Death_of_a_Neapolitan_Mathematician)'' (1992).
