**Cardedu** is a town and *[comune](/source/Comune)* (municipality) in the [Province of Ogliastra](/source/Province_of_Ogliastra) in the autonomous island region of [Sardinia](/source/Sardinia) in [Italy](/source/Italy), located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) northeast of [Cagliari](/source/Cagliari) and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) south of [Tortolì](/source/Tortol%C3%AC). It has 2,002 inhabitants.[2]

Cardedu borders the municipalities of [Bari Sardo](/source/Bari_Sardo), [Gairo](/source/Gairo%2C_Sardinia), [Jerzu](/source/Jerzu), [Lanusei](/source/Lanusei), [Osini](/source/Osini), and [Tertenia](/source/Tertenia).

## Demographics

As of 2026, the population is 2,002, of which 48.7% are male, and 51.3% are female. Minors make up 15.9% of the population, and seniors make up 24.2%.[2]
