'''Cape Chukotsky''' is located in the south-east of the [Chukotka Peninsula](/source/Chukotka_Peninsula), at the east entrance to the [Providence Bay](/source/Providence_Bay%2C_Siberia) and the northern boundary of [Gulf of Anadyr](/source/Gulf_of_Anadyr); it borders the [Bering Sea](/source/Bering_Sea) and [Bering Strait](/source/Bering_Strait). This rocky [cape](/source/Cape_(geography)) hosts a [bird colony](/source/bird_colony) with a population of one thousand [northern fulmar](/source/northern_fulmar)s, [pelagic cormorant](/source/pelagic_cormorant)s, [black-legged kittiwake](/source/black-legged_kittiwake)s, ''[Uria](/source/Uria)s'', [pigeon guillemot](/source/pigeon_guillemot)s and [horned puffin](/source/horned_puffin)s.<ref>Kondratiev, A. The cape was discovered by the [First Kamchatka Expedition](/source/First_Kamchatka_Expedition) on 8 August 1728. On that day, a boat of eight [Chukchi](/source/Chukchi_people) men approached an expedition ship, which hinted [Aleksei Chirikov](/source/Aleksei_Chirikov) to choose the name for the cape.<ref name=r1>Dukalskaya M.
