# Callum Duke

**Callum Duke** (born 5 July 1990)[1] is a Scottish [field hockey](/source/Field_hockey) player who represented the [Scottish national team](/source/Scotland_men's_national_field_hockey_team) at two [Commonwealth Games](/source/Commonwealth_Games).

## Biography

Duke was born in Glasgow and educated at [Kelvindale Primary School](/source/Kelvindale_Primary_School) and [Cleveden Secondary School](/source/Cleveden_Secondary_School) and studied at the [University of Edinburgh](/source/University_of_Edinburgh).[2]

Duke played club hockey for [Hillhead](/source/Hillhead_Hockey_Club) in the [Scottish Hockey National Leagues](/source/Scottish_Hockey_National_Leagues) system but played for [Edinburgh University Hockey Club](/source/Edinburgh_University_Hockey_Club) while at university. Duke made his Scotland debut in 2012 against Spain in Barcelona, won a bronze medal with Scotland at the [2015 Men's EuroHockey Championship II](/source/2015_Men's_EuroHockey_Championship_II) in Prague and earned his 50th cap in 2016.[2]

After university, he played a season in Germany before returning to Hillhead HC and became the club captain.[3] He represented [Scotland at the 2018 Commonwealth Games](/source/Scotland_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games) in Gold Coast, Australia, in the [men's tournament](/source/Hockey_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_tournament)[4] and played for Scotland at the [2019 Men's EuroHockey Championship](/source/2019_Men's_EuroHockey_Championship).[5]

He left Hillhead for a second time to sign for [Western Wildcats](/source/Western_Wildcats_Hockey_Club) for the 2021/22 season.[6][7] In 2022 he went to his second Commonwealth Games after being selected to represent [Scotland at the 2022 Commonwealth Games](/source/Scotland_at_the_2022_Commonwealth_Games) in Birmingham, England, in the [men's tournament](/source/Hockey_at_the_2022_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_tournament).[1][8]

In June 2023 he announced his retirement from international hockey after his 102nd cap against Switzerland.[9]
