# Calgary-Millican

**Calgary-Millican** was a [provincial](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) [electoral district](/source/Electoral_district_(Canada)) in [Calgary](/source/Calgary), [Alberta](/source/Alberta), Canada, mandated to return a single [member](/source/Member_of_the_Legislative_Assembly) to the [Legislative Assembly of Alberta](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Alberta) using the [first past the post](/source/First_past_the_post) method of voting from 1971 to 1993.[1]

## History

The Calgary-Millican electoral district was created in the 1970 electoral boundary re-distribution from part of the [Calgary-East](/source/Calgary-East) and [Calgary South](/source/Calgary_South_(provincial_electoral_district)) electoral districts.[2]

The Calgary-Millican electoral district was abolished in the 1993 electoral boundary re-distribution, where the district was split, with the south part of the riding joined [Calgary Shaw](/source/Calgary_Shaw) and the north merged with [Calgary-Forest Lawn](/source/Calgary-Forest_Lawn) to re-form [Calgary East](/source/Calgary_East_(provincial_electoral_district)) electoral district.

It was named after the neighbourhood of Millican, in the [Ogden](/source/Ogden,_Calgary) community.

Historically this riding covered much of the same boundaries when it was split in 1989 as [Calgary-Fort](/source/Calgary-Fort).
