# Cado Lee

**Cado Lee Ka To** [MH](/source/Medal_of_Honour_(Hong_Kong)) (traditional Chinese: 李卡度; born 27 December 1991) is a Hong Kong [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) and [rugby sevens](/source/Rugby_sevens) player. He plays for [USRC Tigers RFC](/source/USRC_Tigers_RFC), the [Hong Kong national sevens team](/source/Hong_Kong_national_rugby_sevens_team) and the [Hong Kong national rugby union team](/source/Hong_Kong_national_rugby_union_team).

## Biography

### 2009–2017

Lee started playing rugby when he attended high school in [England](/source/England), and became involved with the [Hong Kong Under-20](/source/Hong_Kong_national_under-20_rugby_union_team) team on his return to his country of birth.[1] He was a member of the [Hong Kong Sevens team](/source/Hong_Kong_national_rugby_sevens_team) at the 2011 [Asian Sevens Series](/source/Asian_Sevens_Series). He won a [silver medal](/source/Silver_medal) at the [2014 Asian Games](/source/2014_Asian_Games), losing to in the final.[2] He made his international 15's debut on 10 December 2011, in a 72-14 win over the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.[3] He joined the Hong Kong Sports Institute on a part-time basis in December 2013 when rugby sevens became the first team sport admitted to the institute.[4]

### Move to Japan

In August 2017 Lee became the first Chinese player to be recruited by a [Top League](/source/Top_League) club, the [NEC Green Rockets](/source/NEC_Green_Rockets) in [Japan](/source/Japan).[5] He signed a one-year deal with the [Abiko](/source/Abiko,_Chiba)-based club, and made ten appearances during the [2017–18 Top League](/source/2017%E2%80%9318_Top_League) season.[6] Despite NEC offering him a one-year contract extension, he returned to Hong Kong in early 2018 to prepare for the [Hong Kong Sevens](/source/Hong_Kong_Sevens) which served as qualification of [World Rugby Sevens Series](/source/World_Rugby_Sevens_Series), [Rugby World Cup Sevens](/source/Rugby_World_Cup_Sevens) and [Asian Games](/source/Asian_Games).[7]

### Hong Kong 2018

In the [2018 Hong Kong Sevens](/source/2018_Hong_Kong_Sevens), Hong Kong was eliminated by [Chile](/source/Chile_national_rugby_sevens_team) in the quarter finals, failing to gain promotion to the following year's World Series. In the [2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens](/source/2018_Rugby_World_Cup_Sevens), Hong Kong again lost to Chile again to finish as runners-up in the Bowl Final.[8] In the [2018 Asian Games](/source/2018_Asian_Games), he helped Hong Kong to win all their games in both the group and knockout stages, including a 14–0 victory against [Japan](/source/Japan_national_rugby_sevens_team) to become one of the first [gold medal](/source/Gold_medal) winners for Hong Kong in rugby sevens.[9]

### 2022

Lee competed for [Hong Kong](/source/Hong_Kong_national_rugby_sevens_team) at the [2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens](/source/2022_Rugby_World_Cup_Sevens) in [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town).[10]
