'''Cadmoindite''' (CdIn<sub>2</sub>S<sub>4</sub>) is a rare [cadmium](/source/cadmium) [indium](/source/indium) [sulfide mineral](/source/sulfide_mineral) discovered in [Siberia](/source/Siberia) around the vent of a high-temperature (450–600&nbsp;°C) [fumarole](/source/fumarole) at the [Kudriavy volcano](/source/Kudriavy_volcano), [Iturup Island](/source/Iturup_Island) in the [Kuril Islands](/source/Kuril_Islands). It has also been reported from the Kateřina Coal Mine in [Bohemia](/source/Bohemia), [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic).<ref name=Mindat/>

==Crystal structure==
CdIn<sub>2</sub>S<sub>4</sub> exhibits the [spinel](/source/spinel) structure, which can be described by a cubic unit cell with 8 tetrahedrally coordinated and 16 tetrahedrally coordinated cation sites. The distribution of Cd(II) and In(III) over the cation sites is difficult to elucidate from standard [X-ray diffraction](/source/X-ray_diffraction) techniques because the two species are [isoelectronic](/source/isoelectronic), but both [Raman spectroscopy](/source/Raman_spectroscopy) measurements on synthetic samples<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Ursaki|first1=V.
