**CL Draconis** is a single[10] [star](/source/Star) in the northern [circumpolar constellation](/source/Circumpolar_constellation) of [Draco](/source/Draco_(constellation)). It can be viewed with the naked eye, having an [apparent visual magnitude](/source/Apparent_visual_magnitude) of 4.96.[2] The distance to this star, as determined from its annual [parallax shift](/source/Stellar_parallax) of 29.6 [mas](/source/Milliarcsecond),[1] is 110 [light years](/source/Light_year). It is moving closer to the Earth with a heliocentric [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of −11 km/s.[5] The star has a relatively high [proper motion](/source/Proper_motion), traversing the [celestial sphere](/source/Celestial_sphere) at the rate of 0.185[″](/source/Second_of_arc)/yr.[11]

Based upon a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of F0 IV,[3] this is an aging [F-type](/source/F-type_star) [subgiant star](/source/Subgiant_star) that has consumed the hydrogen at its [core](/source/Stellar_core). It is spinning rapidly with a [projected rotational velocity](/source/Projected_rotational_velocity) of 165 km/s,[6] giving it an [oblate shape](/source/Oblate_spheroid) with an [equatorial bulge](/source/Equatorial_bulge) that is estimated to be 8% larger than the polar radius.[12]

CL Draconis is a [Delta Scuti](/source/Delta_Scuti) variable, changing brightness with an [amplitude](/source/Amplitude) of 0.010 magnitude over a period of 1.83 hours.[14] CL Dra has 1.68[6] times the [mass of the Sun](/source/Mass_of_the_Sun) and is radiating 10.2[6] times the [Sun's luminosity](/source/Sun's_luminosity) from its [photosphere](/source/Photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 7,439 K.[7]

It was transferred from [Draco](/source/Draco_(constellation)) to [Quadrans Muralis](/source/Quadrans_Muralis). Later when the [International Astronomical Union](/source/International_Astronomical_Union) officially recognised constellations, Quadrans Muralis became [obsolete](/source/Obsolete_constellations), so this star was moved back to Draco.
